What is Diabetes?

Traditional Chinese medicine classifies diabetes as an upper condition, which is when symptoms occur in the upper region of the body, such as excess thirst, a middle condition, which is when the symptoms are in the middle region of the body, such as excess hunger, and a lower condition, which is when the symptoms are in the lower region of the body, such as excess urination. The symptoms, and thus the region of the body, define the nature of the treatment. Of course, the best way to address diabetes is to prevent it. This can be done when normal sugar levels are maintained in the body through a well-rounded diet of good fats, complex carbohydrates, and organic sources of protein.
