Recommend for postmenopausal bone loss?

Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
What treatment do you recommend for the bone loss that occurs with postmenopausal osteoporosis?

A: Numerous good studies indicate that calcium supplements can help prevent and slow osteoporosis. Calcium supplementation at the recommended doses appears to be able to reduce bone loss in postmenopausal women in every bone site except the spine. Good evidence also tells us that when vitamin D is taken along with calcium, the results are even better. Combination treatment may be able to slow osteoporosis in the spine, and in some cases actually reverse osteoporosis to some extent.

You may also try these specifically formulated Traditions of Tao products to help with bone loss: “DuraBone” and “Passages Plus”. Of course, discuss with your physician before beginning any new health regime.
