Acupuncture for pain behind my eyes?

Q: Dear Dr. Mao,
For the past four weeks, I have had nearly constant Pain behind my Eyes, as well as temporal Pain. I have been diagnosed with Microvascular Ischemic White Matter Disease, and was taking NSAID, which didn’t help. My doctor says the only option for me is steroids, but I want to avoid steroids. Do you think acupuncture could help?

A: Before going on strong steroid medications, you should explore the alternative of acupuncture. It has been shown to be beneficial for pain and may produce other desired results for you as well.

I suggest that you get acupuncture on regular bases, three times per week for three to four weeks. This should alleviate the Pain symptoms.
